Beckett will be one next week. No one can believe it. When I pick Francis up for school and have my usual exchange with Armando in the hallway he asks, how old is he now? Yesterday I said next week, one week from today he will turn one year. One year? yes one year. Can [...]
Gulf of Mexico
I made this photo of Francis last year on our summer vacation to the Panhandle in Florida. I never imagined it might be the last image like this I ever make. Francis will never have the same childhood memories I have of spending weeks at a time swimming in the Gulf of [...]
I love family photographs. Almost all family images I find completely intriguing, because they never tell you anything specific but they totally layout the facts. Photographs allow you to contain and edit the way family does not. This is the main reason I spend time posting here. Like when a mouse is discovered in the [...]

two and a quarter
The best thing about having a baby is all the visitors. We finally had a chance to see Jocelin,

the day after she was born.
Fatherly Francis
I love this photo of Chris and Francis, because for once Francis is not a motion blur and Chris is! I have a million of Francis in action but here he is strangely still. Between ages one and two I could hardly make a photograph of Francis without him showing up as an [...]
It’s hard to believe that less than five years ago there was just me and Jessica. Dating and not dating. Then engaged and not engaged. Then married and not married. Then Pregnant! and pregnant. Now not too long after the two of us went from four to six to seven, eight and nine. The last [...]
The annual faculty exhibit at Photoworks will open Sept 9.
The theme is Influences. My print Learning to Nurse is influenced by Bruce Davidson, who often portrays his subject matter during a period of transition. Funny, I will probably just be coming out of labor during the opening. Seems appropriate to exhibit a transitional moment.
You can [...]
